5 Beauty Tips For Dry Skin - How to Fight Dry Facial Skin

Dry skin can be an annoyance, especially during the winter months when it can go all
itchy and flaky on you. In this article we'll discuss some of the best beauty tips for dry skin, with special focus on the face.

1. Avoid scorching hot baths or showers

Extremely hot water can actually lead to your skin losing moisture as the lipid barriers in the skin are broken down. Instead of using hot water, use lukewarm water. For the face, baths obviously aren't that big a problem. If you simply can't go without that hot shower in winter though, try to limit it to a few minutes instead of half an hour.

Once you're done, apply your moisturizing cream as quickly as possible.

2. Avoid using drying soaps

When washing your face, do not use regular soap. Use a gentle, moisturizing soap or face wash that will not strip the natural oils from your skin.

The following beauty tips for dry skin pertain to topical skin care.

3. Use both a day and night cream

While the use of a day cream goes without saying, the importance of a night cream is often overlooked. You're not out in the sun, you're just lying in bed. No problem, right?

Wrong. Using a night cream rich in natural moisturizing oils and emollients will help your skin to stay hydrated throughout the night. Avocado oil and shea butter are excellent natural moisturizers that closely resemble your skin's natural oils. These oils all make for a perfect moisturizer for dry skin.

Since your body also repairs itself while you sleep, the extra nutrients a quality night cream provides can aid your skin during this natural repair process.

4. Increase the levels of hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is found naturally in our bodies. For the skin, HA plays a major role in the hydration of the skin. It can absorb many times its own weight in water, not only hydrating your skin, but also increasing its volume. This helps to give a smoother appearance to the skin.

You can raise the levels of HA in your skin naturally by using skin care that contains an ingredient like Phytessence Wakame. This inhibits the enzyme hyaluronidase, which breaks down HA in the skin. In doing so, more HA becomes naturally available in your skin.

5. Use a hydrating mask

A specially formulated hydrating mask will deeply hydrate and repair your skin. Typically you'll only need to use this type of mask once every two weeks.

Be sure to apply these beauty tips for dry skin in your day to day skin care regime, and you should notice a clear improvement in your skin condition.

How to Choose the Best Facial Mask for Your Skin Type

There are many types of facials out there in the market. Not everyone can use everything. Hence, how would you sift through these and find the right match for your skin? The type of mask your face requires depends upon a lot of factors. Your choice of facial mask will depend on your skin type as well as your age. Skin types are many and can be classified into these few; oily, normal, combination and dry.

Oily skin has a lot of limitations. This is so especially because oily skin is prone to breakouts and clogging of pores. Lack of radiance is another limitation associated with oily skin if not taken care of properly. Therefore, oily skin a lot of pampering. And what best way than a clay based face mask! Clay mask helps in unclogging pores by going deep into the pores. Applying clay face mask once a while would give oily skin a boost in terms of exfoliation, deep cleansing and radiance. The mineral properties of clay is well suited for oily skin.

Combination skin is a little tricky. Users with combination skin would need to try out different masks to suit their needs. Also, users would need to know what to apply on which part of the face. The best facial mask for this skin type is also clay based face mask. If oily skin can be safe with clay based facial mask, combination skin could not go wrong there. However, if the clay based facial mask does not suit the user, the user would need to change and experiment with different facial masks.

Normal skin type is a blessing. This skin type has very little problems associated with it if there is any. Therefore, mostly many masks type would suit this skin type. A good boost in radiance would add much value to a face with normal skin. Hence, normal skin type users should go for the radiance boosting and firming facial masks available in the market. The facial mask normal skin user can use can come in the form of gel, cream, peel-off or even wraps.

Then there are user with dry skin type. These users need a boost in moisture. Therefore, users with dry skin need to find facial masks that has moisturizing properties. Also, uses with dry skin should stay away from the exfoliating type of facial masks. This would make their skin more prone to dryness and would cause peeling.

Age type is another factor I mentioned that needs to be taken care of. No matter what you skin type, if you are above the age 30, you would need to go for the facial masks that has firming properties. This is especially so because, as you age, your skin starts to sag. This could be prevented if you give your face regular face lifts and take care of your face.

Skin Care: The Importance Of Exfoliation

Achieving great looking skin isn't necessarily that hard. You do have to know what to do (and what not to do) for good skin care. While most people understand the importance of hydration, sunscreen and cleansing, they often overlook exfoliation in their skin care regimen. Exfoliation can help bring out a fresh, youthful look to your skin and will help prevent blemishes. The key is to perform the exfoliation properly.

The very outer layer of your skin is actually dead skin cells. Your skin creates new cells underneath and the old ones on the surface slough off on their own. This occurs each and every day, whether you notice it or not. Sometimes this dead layer will build up on the surface of your skin and you will notice your skin has a dull look to it. You may also find you are more prone to blemishes, if the dead skin cells clog your pores. Getting rid of these skin cells will promote healthy skin. To exfoliate, you can choose one of these methods: chemical or abrasive. Chemical exfoliants usually contain some form of mild acid, such as alpha hydroxy or salicylic acid. The acids work to slough off the dead skin cells. These actually come in different strengths and can be applied on their own, or in conjunction with an abrasive exfoliant.

Abrasive exfoliants are creams or liquid cleansers that contain particulate matter, such as ground botanicals, jojoba beads or groundnuts. The use of the abrasive will physically remove the dead skin cells. The particulate matter can come in many different sizes and the type you choose will depend upon the application. You don't want to use the same abrasive on your face that you would use to exfoliate your feet.

Start your exfoliation with clean skin. Wet the skin with warm water and apply the exfoliant. Rub gently in circles with your fingers or a facial sponge, avoiding the under eye area, as this skin is too delicate for exfoliation. Rinse with warm water and pat your skin dry. Apply a toner to help balance the pH of your newly exposed skin cells. Follow this with a moisturizer. Your skin may tingle for fifteen minutes or so after the application, especially for your first couple of times. After that, your skin will become used to it. With the chemical exfoliants, discontinue their use if your skin burns too much after application. Exfoliation only needs to be done once or twice a week. Since you have exposed new skin cells to the surface, it is very important that you use a sunscreen if you will be outdoors.

You can choose to purchase an exfoliant, or you can make your own. Some great home products for exfoliation include ground oats, cornmeal, yogurt, honey or buttermilk. A mixture of ground oats and yogurt would be a combination of an abrasive and chemical (oats for the abrasive and the lactic acid in the yogurt is the chemical).

Whichever product you choose, consistent use of your exfoliant product will result in youthful skin with a healthy glow.

Skin Changes During Pregnancy - Hyperpigmentation

During pregnancy, the female body undergoes multiple changes that affect almost every organ system. The skin being the largest organ of the body is well worth talking about as many pregnant women find it hard to differentiate normal pregnancy skin changes from abnormal ones.

There are 3 general categories of skin conditions that are associated with pregnancy:

1- Benign skin conditions related to normal hormonal changes
2- Pre-existing skin conditions that change during pregnancy
3- Pregnancy-specific Skin disorders.

Benign skin changes which are induced by the normal hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy include; striae gravidarum (Stretch marks) which occur in up to 90% of women.

Hyperpigmentation which is more pronounced in darker skinned women, scars and nevi also may darken. The linea nigra is the line that often forms when the abdominal linea alba darkens during pregnancy and this appears as a midline dark line starting above the ubilicus and extending to the pubic bone. Also, Melasma (The mask of pregnancy) which occurs in up to 70% of pregnant women mainly in sun exposed areas like the cheeks and face.

Hair, nail, and vascular changes as either an increase or decrease in growth and production of hair is common during pregnancy, blood vessels can prolifirate and become congested and little Spider telangiectasias may appear in the neck, face and arms. Vascular changes include varicosities which occur in about 40 % of pregnant women.

Pre-existing skin conditions: Such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, candidal and other fungal infections, cutaneous tumors including molluscum fibrosum gravidarum and malignant melanoma may change during pregnancy. Skin problems like atopic dermatitis & psoriasis can worsen or improve during pregnancy.

Finally, Pregnancy-Specific Dermatologic Disorders:

This is just a list that includes a simple description of these skin disorders, if you suspect you may have one please contact your doctor as some may have a negative outcome on the baby.

Prurigo of pregnancy: This occures in 1 : 300 pregnancies, the cause may be related to gall stones but may not be. This appears as reddish nodules on the extensor surfaces of arms and legs.

Pimiphigoid Gestationis: This skin disorder has been found to be associated with some auto-immune disorders. It appears as vesicles or plaques that start around the umbalicus and spread sparing the face and mucous membranes.

Impetigo herpetiformis : This is a form of pustular psoriasis that occurs in the 2nd trimester, medical attention is always required due to infections and increase fetal risk.

Puppp: Pruritic Urticalial Papules Of Pregnancy is the most common pregnancy-specific skin disorder, occurring in one out of 130 to 300 pregnancies. These are itchy papules that usually begin on the abdomen along stria and frequently invlove extremeties while sparing the face.

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy: These are excoriations that result from gallbladder disease. Medical attention is a must in this case.

Pruritic folliculitis of pregnancy: This occurs in the second and third trimesters and presents as erythematous follicular papules and sterile pustules. Its causes are unkown and there are no negative fetal outcomes associated with it.(AFP Volume 75, Number 2, January 15, 2007 )

Best Fade Creams for Aftican-American Skin

The most common reason African-Americans need fade creams is hyperpigmentation, a cosmetic condition that causes dark spots on the skin.

This abnormalcy that also affects darker Asian, Native American, African, Hispanic and South Asian populations results in splotches and uneven skin tones can be caused by sun damage, inflammation, scars from skin injuries, acne.

Because of the close distribution of melanocytes in darker skin types, irritation and swelling can cause the melanacytes to react and produce darker pigment.

Dermatologists have chosen dermabrasion, laser treatments and bleaching agents to combat scarring and spotting.

At times, fading creams have been a stigma in the African-American community. Some use the products to lighten their overall complexions to become more white-appearing. This ritual has drawn a lot of flack from those who say it is an attempt to "be" more like whites. Colored contact lenses, long blonde hair/wigs, and hair straighteners have drawn the same controversies.

Traditionally, however, African-Americans who legitimately want to fade dark spots have selected their own over-the-counter remedies for an even blend. The key is knowing your skin type and doing a patch test to guard against allergic reactions.

One of the things many fade cream users have noticed is a browning of some brands over a period of time. The white cream form of normal fading agents reacts to light and become discolored. This might also happen if you have had the cream for too long. Check good-use dates and discard creams that have expired.

Among the most popular fade cream brands have been Ambi Fade Cream (about $5), a long-time favorite that contains vitamin E, alpha hydroxy acid and sunscreen; Nadinola Skin Discoloration Fade Cream known to fight dark spots from oral contraceptives; Esoterica, a light-weight, non-greasy cream that also acts as a great sunscreen; and Porcelana, formulated to work at night and contains antioxidants and botanical extracts for firming skin.

Some others which have had favorable results among consumers include:

- Palmer's Skin Success Fade Cream ($5.59)

Palmer's contains vitamin C and E, both known to naturally promote even skin tones. In addition to the fade cream, there is an oil that helps reduce stretch marks.

- MaMa Lotion ($15.00)

Non-irritating, MaMa Lotion gives a high-potent anti-inflammatory guard for users and aides in hyperpigmentation prevention. The lotion helps to increase collagen production in the skin and helps slow and prevent breakouts in oily/acne prone skin types. Contains mandelic acid, which is naturally anti-bacterial. Users have reported seeing significant improvements in skin clarity after only a month.

- Fade-Out ($10.49)

A leg treatment cream that helps fade spider veins without injections and lasers. Vitamin K A tinted cream formulated with Vitamin K and herbal extracts, Fade-Out has been known to help improve circulation.

- Clear Essence Advance Complex Fade Gel ($6.75)

One of the few products on the market that is a gel that absorbs into the skin, and not a cream. Contains sunscreen and specially formulated for oily skin.

- Black & White Bleaching Cream with Hydroquinone ($4.99)

Good for freckles and age/liver spots. Economical and less greasy than most other formulas. Conveniently found in most drug stores.

- Black Opal Fade Cream ($12.49)

A silky cream with moisturizing emollients to help nourish and condition as it fades. Contains a combination of Hydroquinone and botanicals to fight discoloration and even skin tones.

- KleenShave Smooth & Tight Fade Cream ($9.99)

A wonder cream for men who have hyperpigmentation in the beard and neck area, KleenShave contains pure shea butter and other natural ingredients and works well against shaving trauma. This also includes women who have trouble in the bikini area. Used twice daily, it produces results in about seven days. A one-ounce jar lasts one- to two months with regular use.

- Sekkisei ($28-60)

Emphasizing the fact that its skin evening tones are better than the "whitening" agents found in other products, Sekkisei offers a whole line of cleansing and toning products. Made with combinations of Japanese and Chinese herbal extracts. Expensive - the complexion soap is $28 and the lotion is about $40 - the products tend to be a bit oily, but are very hydrating and effective. Available at Beauty.com.

Hyaluronic Acid: The Fountain of Youth

What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid (also called Hyaluronan, or HA) is a component of connective tissue whose function is to cushion and lubricate. Hyaluronan occurs throughout the body in abundant amounts in many of the places people with hereditary connective tissue disorders have problems such as joints, heart valves and eyes. Hyaluronic acid abnormalities are a common thread in connective tissue disorders. Interestingly, they are also common biochemical anomalies in most of the individual features of connective tissue disorders such as mitral valve prolapse, TMJ, osteoarthritis, and keratoconus.

The Importance of Hyaluronic Acid (Hyaluronan, HA)
Hyaluronic Acid is present in every tissue of the body. Retention of water is one of the most important biological functions of hyaluronic acid, second only to providing nutrients and removing waste from cells that do not have a direct blood supply, such as cartilage cells. With a lower than adequate amount of hyaluronic acid, nutrients cannot be moved into these cells and waste cannot be eliminated from cells. Hyaluronic acid is sometimes abbreviated as HA. Hyaluronic acid is found in the synovial joint fluid, the vitreous humor of the eye, the cartilage, blood vessels, extracellular matrix, skin and the umbilical cord.

Hyaluronic Acid ; "The Key To The Fountain of Youth"
Hyaluronic acid has been nicknamed by the press as the "key to the fountain of youth" because it has been noted that at least some people who ingest a lot of Hyaluronan in their diets tend to live to ripe old ages. ABC News had a show on a village in Japan and hyaluronic acid entitled, "The Village of Long Life: Could Hyaluronic Acid Be an Anti-Aging Remedy?"

Hyaluronic acid for use by humans has been derived from rooster combs. Rooster combs provide the purest form of hyaluronic acid (Hyalurinan, HA) available.

Benefits
• Hyaluronic acid moisturizes skin from the inside out, smoothing out wrinkles in the process
• Hyaluronic acid helps people who need to ease the flexing of their joints, especially their knees, by restoring cushioning to their joints
• Hyaluronic acid is suitable for men and women in their 30s and 40s who are beginning to see the first signs of aging
• Hyaluronic acid is suitable for seniors who have established joint conditions

Natural Skin Care and Beauty - The steps you need to know.

With everything going green these days, natural skin care has never been more popular. Skin care companies are adding natural based products to their product offerings. Most any beauty store you pass has natural skin care products in the window. However, true natural skin care is more than using just natural products or homemade skin care remedies. It is a lifestyle routine.

Natural skin care is natural beauty and vice versa. However, it is affected by more than what you put on your skin and if that product is natural. Practicing natural skin care involves a lifestyle that practices healthy habits all the time. If you eat a poor diet, never exercise and smoke, then there is not product natural or otherwise that is going to keep your skin young and healthy. The most important factor for maintaining a beautiful complexion starts from the inside. In other words, natural beauty is more than skin deep.

Six Factors That Can Influence the Way Your Skin Looks

1.Diet: What you put in your body is just as important as any product you could put on your skin. A balanced diet rich in vegetables and fruits, low in sugar, low in bad fats, rich in calcium and plenty of water, will do more to keep you a natural beauty than any store bought product.

2.Physical Activity and Proper Sleep: Exercise is great for the skin. It promotes good blood flow to the dermis and brings more oxygen to the skin. On the flip side, getting enough sleep is just as necessary for beautiful skin especially as we age. An average adult should get 8 to 9 hours of sleep when possible.

3.Environment: The outside and inside environment in which you spend your days can affect your skin in many ways. The sun being the most obvious. UVA/UVB rays can do lots of damage to our skin down to the deeper collagen layers. With all the great sun protection choices available, there is no reason not to protect your skin. Wind can dry and chap your skin and smog can leave a thin layer of dirt on your skin; so make sure you moisturize and keep your skin clean. Even air-conditioning and heating can affect the health of your skin.

4.Heredity: Great skin or skin problems can run in the family. If you get a beautiful complexion from your grandmother, don't take it for granted. Your skin will still need proper care. The same goes for skin problems. Do not feel like there is nothing you can do. Following the recommendations here and finding a good skin care system can improve or totally alleviate these problems.

5.Stress: Avoid stress as much as possible. Too much stress can adversely affect your total health including how your skin looks. Practicing natural skin care includes reducing or eliminating stress from your life.

6.Medications: Certain medications can affect your skin, sometimes resulting in rashes, dry skin or acne. Always consult your doctor if you are taking medications that seem to be changing your skin. Hormonal medications and some antibiotics are examples.

Other tips for a natural skin care lifestyle are:

1.Give your body a dry brush exfoliation.

Dry brush exfoliation removes dead skin cells and helps to detoxify your skin. Dry brushing also improves lymph and blood circulation. The gentle brushing is also relaxing for your nerves and can help decrease puffiness.

2.Try to avoid sugar overload in your diet.

Eating sugar is considered one of the major causes of premature aging. Too much sugar in the bloodstream can cause a process to happen known as glycation. Glycation is when a glucose (sugar) molecule attaches to a protein molecule. When this happens, the protein molecule is damaged and a new molecule is formed and is called advanced glycation end-products or AGE's. AGE's damage collagen in the skin, cartilage, and ligaments and causes a loss of elasticity. This causes sagging and wrinkles.

3.Keep things moving.

A sluggish circulation affects your skin by leaving it starved for nutrients. Inactivity can leave you bloated, puffy, increase acne, and encourage cellulite. So if you have a job that leaves you sitting all the time, it is very important to use your breaks and get moving. Talk a couple laps around the office. Join a gym. Get outside on the weekends. Good circulation will improve your skin and your whole body.

4. Rev Up Your Digestion

A good running digestive system is good for your skin and total well being. People with skin problems often suffer from digestive problems like constipation or an imbalance of good and bad bacteria. To rev up your digestion, try to drink enough water. Water keeps things moving through the colon which is always important. Then make sure to eat enough fiber in your daily diet.

In 2002, the National Academy of Sciences Food and Nutrition Board recommended that women, aged 19 to 50 years, need 25 grams of fiber daily and over age 50, 21 grams of fiber. For men, aged 19 to 50 years, 38 grams of fiber is recommended. Men over 50 years, need to include 31 grams of fiber in their diet. To add fiber to your diet, make sure to include whole grain products, cauliflower, apples with skin, nuts and seeds, prunes, bean, legumes and ground flax seed.

5. Eat Good Fats

Good fats are the essential fatty acids like omega-3 and omega-6. Your body cannot live without these essential fatty acids. EFA's are needed to make cell membranes, hormones, and other body chemicals. They protect your heart and fight inflammation. EFA's can help people with dry skin, acne and eczema. Essential fatty acids can be found in cold water fish like salmon or sardines, flaxseed oil, walnut oil, and supplements including borage oil and evening primrose oil.

A few more steps that you should include in your natural skin care and beauty system are:

Brush your teeth after every meal

Pamper yourself with a weekly facial or steam

Treat yourself to a monthly or more total body treatment

Always protect your skin from the sun and elements

Use natural skin care products

Be happy and confident! A smiling face always shows your inner beauty.

Who Needs Sunscreen? Everyone By: Bruce Kaler M.D.

Experts are unanimous on the recommendation that everyone should be using a broad spectrum sunscreen of at least Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15 every day all year round. A strong connection between sun exposure/sunburn and risk of skin cancer has clearly been established. If you ever got sunburn once or twice then your risk of skin cancer some time in your life goes up a lot. Don't be one of the one million people who will be diagnosed with skin cancer this year alone in this country.

There is a lot of confusion about sun protection and sunscreen products. First there is no such thing as a safe tanning bed. Getting a tan before you go to Hawaii does not protect you. It only adds to the sun damage of your skin. The harmful ultraviolet rays of sunlight are what burns or damages the deeper layers of the skin. There are two types of ultraviolet rays A and B. They both are damaging to the skin and can lead to the development of skin cancer. Skin cancer can happen at any age but the skin has a memory accumulating the sun damage throughout a lifetime. That is why skin cancers are more common as people age. Sunscreen should be applied everyday to the exposed skin even if you are not planning to be outdoors. UVA rays are able to penetrate glass while the UVB cannot. 70-80% of ultraviolet rays pass through overcast skies on cloudy days. Sand water and snow all reflect a great deal of the sunlight. You need everyday protection regardless of the weather or your activities.

Choosing a sunscreen product need not be confusing. Many cosmetics have added some sunscreen for the obvious benefits in reducing UV exposure and preventing its premature aging effects on the skin. Look for a SPF of at least 15, broad spectrum (protects against UVA and UVB), and water-resistant if you are going to be active in outdoor activities. The American Academy of Dermatologists advocate these attributes and their seal of recognition can be helpful on packaging. The following is a list of ingredients that help provide broad spectrum coverage: avobenzone (Parsol 1789), cinoxate, ecamsule (mexoryl SX), menthyl anthranilate, octyl methoxycinnamate, octyl salicylate, oxybenzone, sulisobenzone, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide. These ingredients will likely vary a lot in any given product depending on the amount of SPF and manufacturer.

Apply sunscreen to all exposed areas 20-30 minutes before going outdoors. Skin should be dry, coating it liberally and rub it in. Usual suggestions are one ounce of sunscreen to cover the exposed areas. One ounce would be about the same amount to fill a large shot glass. Care to apply adequate amounts to face, nose and ears as they are sensitive and often overlooked. Protect lips as well with sunscreen or an appropriate lip balm that has an SPF of 15. Reapplication should be done at least every two hours if you are swimming or perspiring heavily regardless of the claims of a water resistant product. Swimming, sweating, washing, toweling all reduce the effectiveness of your sunscreen so reapplication may need to be even more frequent. Common mistakes are not using enough, leaving certain areas unprotected and not reapplying. The SPF rating is only a measure of delaying the redness and its damaging effects. It does not eliminate it or make you bullet proof.

It's never too late to protect yourself and your family from the harmful effects of the sun. Preventing sunburn with proper use of sunscreen is an important part of making your time in the sun safe and enjoyable.

Skin Exfoliation - The Process and Benefits

When you discuss the process of skin exfoliation, you are talking about various procedures for keeping your skin lovelier and more alive. This can be achieved through scrubbing with assorted products manufactured for this purpose so that you expose the skin underneath, making yourself look younger and healthier. It can also refer to the renewal of your skin's cells.

In today's world, not only women but also men are concerned about their beauty. Numerous people don't mind going to parlors and skin care centers to make them look better and fresher. The dirt in air causes certain damage to the skin and makes it look dull. Hence skin exfoliation becomes the option for many to get rid of the dead cells and expose the new and fresh skin.

It's vital to buy the proper product for exfoliating your skin (sloughing off its dead cells). There are all sorts of items you can find in the shops and on the internet, but you must ascertain that the one you decide on has no deleterious side effects. The best idea is to speak with a dermatologist in advance of making such a purchase.

Although the process may be irritating, since one must scrub the skin for some time, the results are great. Besides, one has to take care, since the scrub must be done gently, not excessively. Being careless during this process might cause damage to the skin. Some will wish to use salicylic acid for skin cleaning, and in some cases to eliminate the problem of bacterial acne. But care must be taken to use it sparingly, lest you do it too much and thus cause chemical burn salicylic acid, in which case you'll have to quit using the product right away.

Exfoliation makes sure that the dirt from the skin is completely removed. While rubbing the upper layer of the skin, the dead cells are drawn out and the new fresher skin is exposed. When the products are gently rubbed into the skin, their ingredients also leave a moisturizing effect on the skin.

The Perricone 28 Day Diet For Anti Aging Skin Care

drugstore.com

It used to be all you need is love, but today according to Dr. Perricone all you need is fish. The Perricone Prescription is the latest diet to gain national attention. Perhaps because there's more to it than just losing a few extra pounds. This is the diet that actually offers us eternal youth. This is the program that's designed to reverse those fine lines and wrinkles, and to reduce the signs of aging. The Perricone Nutritional Facelift is called the 28 Day Program For Total Face and Body Rejuvenation.

Dr. Perricone is a dermatologist and his Perricone diet is based on his theory that certain foods are responsible for premature aging, while at the same time other foods slow the aging process.

Dr. Perricone recommends foods high in protein because they have anti inflammatory properties. He explains that all low calorie diets share a common concern and that is that they don't have enough protein in them, which causes the premature aging of the skin. Inflammation causes the skin to lose its elasticity which then causes fine lines and wrinkles, and other signs of aging.

Perricone's Natural Facelift is a 28 day plan that reduces your intake of saturated fats and sugars, while increasing your protein intake. The primary protein food is wild salmon. He encourages you not to use farmed salmon or non organic salmon because they are usually filled with chemicals.

It also encourages the intake of foods with anti-inflammatory qualities. Foods like leafy green vegetables or avocados both have excellent anti-inflammatory qualities, which will leave the skin looking younger and healthier.

On the Perricone skin rejuvenation diet you are not allowed to eat foods with a high glycemic index, because they are responsible for premature aging. These foods include bagels, breads, pastas, potatoes, pizzas, and bananas.

Dealing with Stretch Marks

Dealing with stretch marks is something that most women will have to do their life time. Just about every woman has worried about stretch makes at some point. Stretch marks occur due to weight gain or loss and pregnancy; times when the skin is stretched beyond its elastic point. But nobody cares that much as to why they appear but more in how to eliminate, prevent, or to be free from them all together. Even though you cannot totally get rid of stretch marks once you have them, there are some things you can do to help the situation.

If you have stretch marks, talk to your doctor about them to find out what can be done to lessen their appearance. Prevention is the best way not to be saddled with stretch marks. Watch your weight. Rapid weight gain or loss can bring on stretch marks very quickly. If you plan on getting pregnant or have just found out that you are expecting there are things that you can do to ward off stretch marks. Drink plenty of water and fluids to keep your skin hydrated and start using a good moisturizing lotion every day. This may not completely prevent stretch marks from forming; but it may make them less severe and less in number.

Tips for minimizing stretch marks and reduce the chances of more stretch marks occurring are:

1. Keep the skin well hydrated by twice daily use of a moisturizing lotion

2. Avoid rapid weight gain or loss. Eat foods which support skin health as well as collagen and elastin production. Foods high in natural antioxidants are best such as berries and certain vegetables. Also, make sure to include plenty of “good” fats like Omega – 3, Omega – 6 found in fish, avocados, flaxseed and olive oil.

3. Use a stretch mark prevention and removal cream that helps keep your inner elastin fibers healthy.

4. Check into laser removal with a qualified doctor.

To actually reduce the appearance of stretch marks, you can choose one of the many stretch mark removal creams available. They range from affordable to rather expensive but can gradually reduce the severity over a period of time. With proper application and persistence, a quality stretch mark removal product will fade scars to a point you will be happy with. Massage stretch mark removal cream to affected area once or twice per day according to packaging instructions.

To help make stretch marks less noticeable, try one of these:

1. Use a self-tanning lotion or spray to camouflage stretch marks. For good results, be sure to exfoliate the skin beforehand to remove dead skin cells. After that, apply a light moisturizer and then the tanning lotion or spray.

2. Another option is to use a concealer product. Use a waterproof product that is especially designed for hiding stretch marks. Again, this is only a quick fix and will not eliminate them.

Stretch marks can lower your self esteem but you don't have to be stuck with this aesthetic problem forever. Stretch mark improvement can include various approaches but a good quality skin care product is an affordable one to start with; and it is less invasive than other methods. Remember that stretch marks will fade with time and that no one else can see them unless you want them too. Though stretch marks may bother you the most, most likely, they don’t bother the people that love you at all.
